“In My Trigger’s Eye” was filmed in July 2001 and inspired by the events of the 1991 Persian Gulf War, addressing issues of terrorism and large-scale attacks. Incredibly, only two months after its release, on September 11, 2001, the attack on the Twin Towers in New York occurred, a terrorist act that deeply impacted the world. What seemed like a fictional plot became a painful reality, demonstrating that the threats of terrorism were more present than many thought and underlining the importance of always being alert to possible dangers.
Although it may seem like part of movie fantasy, secret commandos like the ones Miguel and Veronica are part of in “En la Mira de mi Gatillo” have their basis in reality. In the real world, there are intelligence and special operations agencies that recruit undercover agents to carry out high-risk missions that require specialized skills and the strictest confidentiality. These agents operate in the shadows, facing real dangers similar to those seen in the film, proving that reality can sometimes be as intriguing and dangerous as fiction.
In “En la Mira de mi Gatillo”, Lorena Herrera plays a character known by the name of agent “Carlos”. This name generated speculation and rumors in the media, with some publications claiming that this was the first transgender character in Mexican cinema. However, this was just an erroneous assumption. In reality, “Carlos” is simply a code name that his character uses to hide his true identity. The choice of the name was a plot strategy to add an element of mystery and surprise, showing that things are not always what they seem.
He is played by renowned actor Rodolfo de Anda, who belonged to a well-known film dynasty in Mexico; his father, Raúl de Anda, was a famous actor, director and producer. Following in his father’s footsteps, Rodolfo made his mark in the entertainment industry, acting in more than 60 films and producing several television series.
He is a fictional character, although this name was not chosen at random; the writers and director decided to use “Hermosillo” in honor of their father, who was a respected police captain in real life. This is a tribute to the bravery and dedication of the father of the creative team behind the film, adding a layer of personal meaning to the story.
Veronica Fernandez was selected for the role of agent Fernández due to her impressive physical qualities, stamina, acrobatic skills and stage presence. At the time, Veronica was an actress and trapeze artist, training to participate in the prestigious “Cirque Du Soleil”. Her experience in trapeze allowed her to bring to the character an authenticity and athleticism that were essential for the intense action scenes of the film, perfectly combining the joviality and sympathy required for the role.
